Destined to be our first deleted release. This is a psychedelic mash-up using only tracks from The Beatles' experimental solo releases. Every sound you'll hear is The Beatles (or, more accurately, from their solo albums). No sounds have been added by us. Since they never made an experimental album together, a future press release should wildly claim, "The Beatles - As You've Never Heard Them Before!" If only they'd all just gotten along. That's the premise, anyway. Originally made for our amusement, we figured, hey... why not share it? Link back to us and we'll whisper your name in bonged reverence & dedicate a bowl to your existence. When our species comes to rule this planet, your name will be on the protected rolls and you will come to no harm.

This one looks good! I can't wait for my download to finish!
ReplyDeleteI have posted links at both of my blogs (Cool-Mo-Dee and mpfree).
You're the best, Adam. Thanks for all the past links, too.
ReplyDeleteCan't let this be easily eradicated. That would be just wrong. It's up over at NSS.
ReplyDeleteHere's my (stuffy) review:
The Beatles:The Act You've Known For All These Years (WLFC Records #047, 2010)—These Liverpudlians were some of the premier singer-songwriters of their time, but haven’t released an album for many years. This long-delayed set of songs (they scrapped the album twice before completing it) returns them to their finely wrought, melancholy character studies. (Yawn!)

Yes, NØ! We thought it was real. Thanks for the press.
ReplyDeleteThird Person Translation For The Overseas Press (...thanks NØ).

How about The 13 minute Lennon epic, It's So Hard To Hope For Peace In A Spiral (Requiem), is an impassioned anti-war cry from the grave.
ReplyDeleteGood one. Keep writing that stuff and you'll get a shitload of free albums.
ReplyDeleteI love how you took all of this from such obscure places (and for that reason alone, EMI might not care).
ReplyDelete"Second only to Harrison's "Gone Troppo" in overall feel, "The Act You've Known For All These Years" is sure to go down in music history in the category of 'required listening.'
Hey... you've done this before.
ReplyDeleteNice work. Better than the albums they came from.

Fantastic. We're covered on the Irish Cream and Circus peanuts, but the closest lookalike we've got is Steve Buscemi. Thanks loads for the push.
ReplyDeleteLoved this - as someone born & living across the Mersey from Liverpool the Beatles are something of a religion to some folk around here, but general opinion has been positive from most who've heard this.Intend to get it played on local pirate station'Radio Xanadu'which broadcasts on Sundays (107 fm & on the web)to give more coverage.Keep on with the good work.
ReplyDeleteThanks a million ZZ. Really appreciate the kudos and the airwave plugs. Keep us posted on the hate mail and death threats you're sure to get from the locals.
ReplyDeleteI always knew you guys were great.
ReplyDeleteThis is just a lot more proof.
You talkin' to us? ...or The Beatles?
ReplyDeleteI could swear I hear the ascending introductory riff from the Pink Panther theme towards the end of Greasy Leaf Changes...I haven't had acid-- or flashbacks!-- in years-- how do you do it??
ReplyDeleteWell... after ruling out acid and flashbacks, we're not sure. Where exactly do you mean? The last section in "Greasy Leaf Changes" is from George Harrison's Wonderwall Music. Thanks for listening that far in.
ReplyDeleteMy, that was sure fun!
ReplyDeleteI have put this up at my blog, cheers.

We've got some noise coming up. But, you really want us to close the site down?
ReplyDeleteI've listened to this a couple couple times...Greasy Leaf Changes gets me everytime-- who's the guitar solo in the 3/4 way thru shuffle, w/ Macca soundbites? Trumpet & chromatic harp after that? You guys are great, you can take a year off yr day job & this too, if you want to pilgrimage the globe & sample the pipes of Jajouka like the late Brian again- gotta DL & listen to ALL yr older jams & mashups.
ReplyDeleteThanks for listening. The lead guitar is either McCartney or one of his sidemen. The harp is from Harrison's "Wonderwall Music." The trumpet? Hmmmm. We're not sure. Maybe the same place, or a McCartney album? We were stoned, forgive us. As for our older stuff... it's nearly all live jams. No other mash-ups... except maybe, mashing ourselves.
ReplyDeleteYou really pumped up Wonderwall in a way that I doubt George would complain about.
ReplyDeleteYeah... he's not really much of a complainer these days. Thanks for listening.
ReplyDeleteOmlette review.
ReplyDeleteThe Beatles were good in their time, but lets face it, George was the only one with anything to say. I think we have all had enough of the Magical Mystery Strawberry Walrus thing, after all we have been hearing it for 40 years.
Well now, "Were Late For Class" brings you "The Act You've Known All These Years", a trip into the dark twisted world of The Beatles alternate reality, a journey from the 60s to present day and beyond. Experience the psychedelic inflected spaces inhabited by rock, jazz, classical and something else, something without genre. Journey to other dimensions on the doomed deepspace starship Mersey Silence. Hear the tribal, primal, hypnotic, drumming as you move through alien jungles and listen to the distant voices, urgently implanting their messages into your brain. Absorb the spacey, trancey, ever changing musical soundscapes of this eclectic collection.Take this trip and feed your mind.
Thanks Omlette.
ReplyDeleteTo say it transcends the original works is an understatement
ReplyDeleteand may make me eligible for the "Master of the Obvious"
award I have coveted for so long.
Smoke on WLFC!
Smoke on.
